Gillette M3 Power Nitro Razor

Product Description

Gillette M3Power Nitro, a Mach3 innovation, is a groundbreaking, powered wet shaving system for men that delivers a totally new shaving experience resulting in Gillette’s best shave ever. Micro-Power – Gentle micro-pulses stimulate hair up and away from skin. In just one power stroke, you can get a closer and more thorough shave. So thorough, there is less need to reshave, which means less irritation. Three spring-mounted blades are positioned to extend gradually closer to your beard for a close shave in a single stroke. This progressive blade alignment ensures closeness. EasyGlide Blades, our patented blade coating, produces Gillette’s smoothest blade surface for incredible glide and increase level of comfort. You can feel the difference from the first shave. Indicator Lubrastrip provides lubrication, Vitamin E and Aloe, to improve razor glide. Consistent application of lubricant throughout the life of the blade and will fade to indicate when you are no longer getting the optimal shave. The handle features strategically placed gripping surfaces that enable men to shave confidently and safely at any angle. The power button is centrally located on the handle for maximum control and the Duracell AAA battery is easy to insert and replace. The razor is shower safe which allows a man to shave wherever he prefers.

Better yet than super (S-bend) Mach 3, and not as expensive as the Fushion5
This is the sort of product that is so well designed that I want to go out and purchase one for all my friends.

I have been a long time fan of “Mach 3″ razors. Having used disposable razors for the first 15 years of my shaving life, I was forced to purchased a Mach 3 since no disposable razors happened to be available.

I was surprised to find that the metal handle, and above all the fact that it has a sort of s-bend curve before the blade attachment makes for a very dynamically-stable shave.

The s-curve at the end of the Mach 3, which somehow effects the way that force is applied, rather than the fact that it has 3 rather blades, justifies for me the extra extra expense compared to disposable razors.

To this the “M3 Power” adds an in-handle vibrator which makes one sweep of the blade that much more effective, requiring less sweeps and a shorter sweep to cut which is especially useful on the top lip, and produces a closer barber-shop-feel shave. The thicker handle is not so thick as to be uncomfortable to hold. The battery lasts a long time (the packaging says 2 to 4 months). The blades last a long time – at least week on average I would say.

I hear that the 5-blade “Gilette Fusion” (and Gillette Fusion Power) may have an even better shave but the price of the blades, the difficulty of shaving your top lip due to the width of the blade attachment, the difficulty of cleaning due to the closer blade alignment, and the lack of blade durability means that the Mach 3 Power, will remain my choice of shave.

The packaging of the Mach 3 and M3 Power blades intimate, by exclusion, that only the latter will work on the M3 Power handle. But this does not seem to be the case. My old Mach 3 blades at least click to fit the new M3 power handle. I can see no important difference. Unless I notice something about the shave that is not apparent from a visual inspection of the blades, I think I will be using Mach 3 blades on a M3 Power body.

This is a GREAT shaver!!! buy one and you’ll see.5
I am a wetshaver. That means that I take the shaving experience to it’s ultimate ends. I belong to all the shaving forums. I went from throw away razors to double edge vintage and antique razors. These were fine shavers. I then progressed to straight razor shaving. EVERY MAN should know how to use a straight razor :) . I have a pretty large collection of “user” straight razors. I strop them, I hone them…
I have a spine injury that creates spasms from the pain…at times…I would slash my face regularly…One day, running late as usual, I tried my Son’s M3 razor with a several day growth of beard. Shaved one pass against the grain got a BBS shave..
This is WONDERFUL. It gets into the nostril area and any hard to shave places are easy for this. I have nicked myself ZERO times.
It makes me complacent when I shave with this. It is that good.
Blades last a long time, the motor is always on when I use this.
I still prep my face with hot water, use many different brushes and a wide variety of soaps and creams. QED Wild Rose from a groupbuy on TheShaveDen.com is my fav. The rose scent is terrific and very uplifting. YES! I have a lot of creams and soaps..I still gravitate to this FO glycerin soap.
I haven’t told any of my buds on the DE or STRAIGHT RAZOR forums that I use an M3 EDC basis..

Night and day over a regular mach shaver.5
Huge improvement over a regular mach shaver. I use the regular mach blades instead of the newer more expensive ones and get a close comfortable shave every time. The older blades seem to last longer and the battery never seems to run out on this.

Update-August 2009 – 3 STARS for the handle. 5 STARS for the BLADES. I still really like the shave I get with these blades and the power handle. My problem is the quality of the handle has gone way down. My first one lasted forever. I left it at a hotel and figured I’d just buy a new one. The two replacements I’ve gotten both stopped vibrating within months. The first just stopped. The second seemed to have some leakage. I’ll try one more since I don’t want to get sucked into the fusion hype and expense.

Smooth shave4
I was skeptical of the “power” model but bought this razor because my old Fusion was getting, well, old, and I got a good deal on this. I’m pleased. The final result of the shave isn’t any smoother than the non-power Fusion razor–that is, your face won’t be any smoother after shaving than before–but the shaving process is smoother. The vibrating head has a numbing effect that takes a shave or two to get used to but makes shaving smoother. I was worried that the numbing would make me careless and lead to more cuts, but it hasn’t so far. I’m glad I bought this razor and would recommend it.

Major improvement over Mach 35
I bought this Fusion Power Razor Phantom for my husband. He has been using Mach 3 since it was released and has been very happy with it. He did not think that you could improve that much upon it. He was pleasantly surprised by Fusion Power Razor Phantom. The shave is VERY close (I can attest to this ;) ) and it looks like my husband just shaved even 24 hours later. Previously you could see ‘shade’ by late afternoon. My husband likes the power version better than regular one, which I bought for him together with blades from Costco. And blades last a very long time, which was my concern, since they are more expensive than Mach 3 ones. We both could not be happier with Fusion Power Razor.

5mths Still Going Strong With First Blade??!!5
Bought this back in July…. It is now Dec 15th and I’m still using my first blade!! Still gives a great shave!! The blades may be expensive but hell they last!! I saw an article in a Money magazine that said to clean the blades with ‘Arm and Hammer, Shower Clean’. I have been doing this, I guess it helps. My strip that they say once is white needs to be replaced has almost fallen off?? But it still does the job. I shave everyday 7days while at work, while at home for seven days I grow a thickish beard twice prior to shaving. And like I said I’ve been doing it since July. These blades are great!!!! Was gonna buy a expensive electric razor, not now! I still have a 12 pack refill! At this rate that might last 5-6 yrs baby!!

the original 2 blade system that kicked of the saga now at 5 blades. This is still my favorite.5
I have had the original Sensor for almost 12 years now, and it still works the best of the ones i have tried. The Sensor 3 blades nick me up more, the Mach 3 again tends to nick me up more as well, and any of the store brand replacement heads for this Sensor just do not work out as well as the original sensor/sensor XL heads. The two blades seem to give me the closest shave without irritation, and after 12 years that alot of shaving. Don’t waste money on more expensive newer models, if you have this one or can get this one, blades are cheaper and it does better.

Simply the Best5
The Sensor Excel is hands down the best razor I have ever used in my life. I have been using it over 10 years now and still it’s the perfect razor. I one time bought Sensor replacement cartridges and they are excellent but the Sensor Excel cartridges are definitely much better. I have tried Gillette’s newer razors – Mach3, Fusion – and they are OK but I wouldn’t want them for daily shaving. But the Sensor Excel is amazing. Whether I have very little stubble or a few days growth, this razor shaves PERFECTLY smooth, EVERY time. Even when the blades are dull, this razor shaves better than most razors with most new blades. In my experience, everyone I know either loves or hates this razor, but many love it, and those of us who love it don’t want anything else, ever. I will be very angry at Gillette if they do away with this razor (and I think they have). If that happens, I will buy a Panasonic wet/dry shaver and never use a blade again.

Set the standard.. Still the king.5
Never mind the ‘Lillian’ name, I’m her husband and here’s my 2 cents:

With all the 3+, 4+ and even 5+ bladed razors on the market.. You’d think there is actually a need for them. Nothing that has come out in the last several years does a better job than the 2-bladed Sensor Excel..

It’s silly to spend much more for nothing more.. than to say,”Look Ma.. 4 Blades and it vibrates!!”

I buy these by the 25pack available at Costco. I actually came to see if they sold them by the same quantity, alas Amazon does not.

Se la vi.
